Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The VT46 is the ultraportable projector for various applications. With a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and a light intensity of 1.200 ANSI Lumen, it is the best presentation partner for a low cost home cinema adventure. Even schools and medium sized companies prefer VT46 because of its easy handling and optimum of its price-value ratio. The various connectivity-options and the one-touch operation are some advantages of the VT46. The keystone correction of +-30? brings the picture always into the right shape, if the projector has to project up or down in a certain angle to the wall. The VT46 is almost noiseless with its 32 db and therefore highly recommended for home cinema, classrooms and small meeting rooms.

Amazon.com Product Description
With 1,200 ANSI lumens and SVGA native resolution, the NEC VT46 projector makes you shine in virtually any setting, from a variety of configurations. 64-step image magnification with location control lets you zoom in exactly where you'd like, so you can emphasize key aspects of your presentation. And, at just 6.6 pounds, the VT46 is ideal both for permanent installation or for taking the show on the road.

NEC's AutoSense technology provides automatic synchronization with any computer signal and features one-touch image optimization, while VORTEX technology improves color accuracy and white levels. The VT46 offers an adjustable projected image size of 21 to 300 inches (diagonal), from a distance ranging from just over 2 feet to nearly 40 feet away.

The VT46 offers easy lamp replacement (VT60LP), though the one included with your projector is designed for plenty of life--the 160 watt NSH lamp has an estimated life of 3,000 hours. One-watt monaural speakers add the benefit of sound to your presentations.

The VT46 is backed by a two-year warranty on parts and labor (1,000 hours or six months on the backlight), and comes with just about everything you'll need to get started, plus a handy soft carrying case to help protect your investment.

What's in the Box
NEC VT46 projector with lens cap, lithium battery, remote control, power cable, RGB signal cable, soft carrying case, user's manual on CD-ROM, documentation packet (Quick Connect Guide, Important Information, Guarantee Policy)

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Excellent projector for the money.   November 28, 2004

If you've waited for a great deal on a portable projector, your time has come. The VT46 is a dual-use projector that can display images from a PC - or from a video source such as a DVD player or VCR.

It has a native SVGA resolution of 800 by 600, but it also can display XGA screens (1024 by 768). And it uses an LCD system for its display technology.

The brightness rating is 1200 ANSI lumens, enough illumination to display a presentation in a small conference room with low lighting. And its lamp is rated to last 3,000 hours.

The VT46 is easy to set up and use. It has a zoom lens that lets you easily place it where you need it and adjust the lens to fit the image to the screen. The inputs (plus an on/off switch) are conveniently situated on the unit's rear and the unit includes a remote control and a nice carrying case.

All in all, it's an excellent projector and a great value.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing projector for under $1000   June 13, 2004

I originally considered the InFocus X1, since it is highly rated and probably 'the' most recommended projector in this price range. However, I am sensitive to the 'rainbow' effect' that DLP projectors are prone to, so I had to turn to LCD. The NEC VT46 has some favorable reviews out there, and it has a shorter throw than the X1, so I decided to pick one up. Wow! The picture is much better than I expected! Despite being a 4:3 projector, it produces an amazing picture with widescreen DVDs. The colors look very natural and the contrast is excellent. The short throw lens and manual zoom allow me to create a huge image from the coffee table, and it's also very quiet so it doesn't intrude on quiet scenes. I don't hesitate to recommend this projector; It has exceeded my expectations.
