Product Description
A Cinema-Style Viewing Experience At Home This widescreen TV features a width-to-height ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing a theater-like experience at home. View HDTV broadcasts and widescreen DVDs the way they were meant to be seen. Crisp, Lifelike Details HDTV broadcasts and DVDs offer more detail and better color than analog broadcasts, and it takes a high-resolution display to deliver all that picture information. The high pixel count of this LCD TV provides fine detail for outstanding HDTV reproduction. More pixels also translate into less stair-stepping artifacts; curved and diagonal edges look smooth and natural. High-Quality Fast Motion Imagery Fast pixel response time is essential to accurate image reproduction on LCD displays. If the response time is too long, fast motion seen during sports broadcasts and action movies can cause blurring. This LCD TV features an impressive 14ms response speed, helping to ensure excellent detail and smooth motion during high-speed scene transitions. Great Image Qualityat Wide Angles Some LCD displays require the viewer to sit within a very small sweet spot for good image quality. Move too far to the left or right and image quality drops off sharply. This LCD TV features an extremely wide viewing angle of 170°, so whether you're right in front of the TV or sitting off to the side, you'll still get great image quality. Progressive Scanning for Smooth, Rock Solid Images Traditional analog TVs display video in an interlaced format that splits each film frame into two separate fields, resulting in visible scan lines and other image artifacts. A progressive scan display shows each film frame as one solid frame, helping to create a stable, solid image free of interlaced artifacts.

Amazon.com Product Description
Save space and enjoy the vivid, lifelike colors and movement of high-definition television with the 23-inch Panasonic TC-23LX50 LCD TV. It features a widescreen aspect ratio (16:9) with a width-to-height ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing a theater-like experience at home, and offers a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It comes with a built-in NTSC, 181-channel tuner, and requires a separate ATSC tuner to receive HD signals. Simply connect an HDTV tuner or cable box and experience high definition broadcasts with amazing color and detail. It's compatible with 1080i, 720p, and 480p signals, and your DVDs will look incredible when played back from a progressive scan DVD player at 480p.

Fast pixel response time is essential to accurate image reproduction on LCD displays. This LCD TV features an impressive 14ms response speed, helping to ensure excellent detail and smooth motion during high-speed scene transitions. It also offers an extremely wide viewing angle of 170 degrees, so whether you're right in front of the TV or sitting off to the side, you'll still get great image quality. With the motion adaptive 3D Y/C digital comb filter (which separates the color signals to minimize dot crawl and blurred edges), you'll see sharp, focused images regardless of their source. Other features include an 800:1 contrast ratio and a 450 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating.

This TV features two built-in, 8-watt speakers and stereo output for connection to a home theater audio system. It features the following video and audio connections:

  • Composite AV In (RCA): 2
  • Composite AV Out (RCA): 1
  • S-Video In: 2
  • Component Video In: 1
  • RF In: 1
  • Headphone: 1

4 out of 5 stars Panasonic 23" LCD TV   February 26, 2006

Good value for the price. Picture is quite good with DVD's and very good with HD input. The Sony 23" has somewhat better detail and image quality for significantly more money. The Panasonic also lacks an HDMI input, which may or may not be important to you.

I found a rather modest improvement in image quality in moving from S-Video to Component Video inputs -- which is not too surprising, given this small screen size.
