Amazon.com Product Description The 32-inch Toshiba 32DF46 flat-screen CRT television features a standard 4:3 aspect ratio screen and 480i (interlaced) display resolution, which isn't compatible with the pristine imagery of true high-def resolution broadcasts. However, it does feature a 16:9 aspect ratio mode with zoom functionality for enjoyment of widescreen DVD movies and high-def TV programming. And you'll still be able to receive digital broadcasts thanks to the set's built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner--which pulls HD signals right from the airwaves--and its QAM tuner that is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. Surprisingly slim at just 23 inches deep, its attractive silver and gray cabinet will look great in any room. The FST PURE flat screen picture tube delivers increased viewing angles along with the enhanced picture linearity necessary to produce accurate, life-like images. This feature eliminates unwanted reflections from room lighting, which is a common problem in conventional tube designs. It also improves sharpness and brightness. The digital comb filter converts chrominance and luminance signals into a digital medium prior to separation and 2H delay. This process provides enhanced color purity and reduced dot crawl. It's also able to eliminate detail noise in intricate scenes as well as reduce color bleed from broadcast sources. The advanced velocity scan modulation feature improves black to white image transitions for sharper detail and enhanced picture definition in high brightness operating conditions. The GameTimer feature also allows parents to set the TV to shut off after a specified period of game playing, and it will stay off until a lockout key code is entered. Other features include a glow-key remote contol, closed caption decoding, channel labeling, favorite channel, tri-lingual onscreen menus (English, French, Spanish), and V-Chip parental controls. This set has two stereo speakers that produce 2.5 watts of power per channel (5 watts total) that can produce virtual surround sound. The double baffle front-firing speaker design delivers improved stereo sound reproduction without connection additional speakers. The StableSound feature eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels. It features the following video and audio connections: - Composite A/V: 2 (1 front)
- S-Video: 1
- Component Video: 1
- RF: 1
Tech Talk Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound. What's in the Box Flat-screen CRT TV, remote control (with batteries), printed operating instructions

Wrong model sent, still a nice TV though May 21, 2007 Gene Warner (Chicago, Illinois, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered this through Etronics. When I got it I didn't notice it at first but soon realized that they had sent a 32D46 which is identical to this model except that the screen is not flat. I checked Etronics web site and they list the 32D46 at the price advertized here and they list the 32DF46 at $499. What I don't know is whether Etronics being listed here selling this model is an honest mistake or an intentional deception but it was no mistake on Etronics part! The packing slip clearly showed that they had crossed out the 32DF46 and replaced it with the 32D46! What was *REALLY* irritating is that they didn't even bother to notify me of the change before shipping it, if they had I probably would have canceled the order. Now if I want to get what I ordered, I'd have to ship it back to them probably at my expense plus pay the difference in price and then probably the cost of shipping the correct model to me. In all an extra $220 in shipping charges plus I'd be without a TV while waiting for delivery of the correct model. With all that in mind, I'll likely just keep it despite that it isn't what I ordered. But I will make sure Etronics and Amazon know my feelings about this mis-listing and my disappointment at not getting what I had ordered. The bottom line is. If you *really* want the flat screen 32DF46, DO NOT buy from Etronics! You won't get it! This is a great TV though, other reviewers are right that the tuner is slow, but that doesn't bother me since I'm not a channel surfer anyway, when I sit down to watch TV it's to watch a specific show or a DVD. Don't know what other people see wrong with the picture, some have said the colors were weak. I actually had to turn down the color a little. No weakness here! I love the digital reception capability! I can't pickup analog signals too well but the digital signals come in extremely well. Using just a bare wire attached to a coax cable I could pull in most of the local stations, imagine what a proper antenna will do! Once I have that set up and receiving all the local stations which is all I'm interested in, the cable is history! I also like the Stable Sound feature, it's really annoying when you're watching TV and a commercial come on and blasts you into next week. Doesn't happen with Stable Sound, the volume stays where you set it. Very nice feature Toshiba! Over all I'm very pleased with this TV, just wish it was the flat screen model I had ordered.
For lack of alternatives March 29, 2007 Ben There 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're looking for something to: a)fit in a cabinet too small for a decent size widescreen. b)be "future-proof" w/ built in HD tuner (even though NOT HD tube). c)hold you over during TV technology shake out and price drops for a couple of years. ....then I guess this TV is good enough. The picture is just okay. I had a 15 yr old JVC w/ a better picture. The tuner is sooo slow. You better know what you want to watch because ch. surfing on this baby is painful. But for 480 bucks it'll due ok for a couple of years.... then it's off to the bonus room w/ the kiddies for this unit.
Great TV Great Price February 16, 2007 J. Sorrentino (Ormond Beach, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
1st off way to go Amazon! I received it 10 days before the estimated ETA. I got it in about a week with the free shipping. The picture is great for a tube, top of the line. The only complaint is that you have to aim any remote DIRECTLY at the power on light for it to work.
Great for the price February 1, 2007 B. Davis (Raleigh, NC) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had a 31" Hitachi TV for 12 years and the tube began going out. I considered a plasma TV but for the money, I decided to stick with a replacement for my old TV, one that would fit in the same cabinet. What a great picture! And to my surprise, with cheap old-school rabbit ears, I'm able to tune in HD channels in my area. The sound is great as well. I shopped around, and for a little over $400, you can't beat this set. Don't be fooled by some of the CRT TVs with the the large plastic "speakers" on the sides. If you look closely, the actual speaker size is not very big on those, and the sound is no better than this set.
Great value January 12, 2007 K. J. McKay 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was the perfect TV for our needs: It fits the space, is economical, has great picture size and quality, and lots of features. It is a good blend of current digital and CRT technology. Not an LCD and bulky as they come, but once in place it delivers a quality viewing experience.
