Amazon.com Product Description Sony's high-value KV-32FS120 32-inch WEGA television packs a wealth of video technologies that guarantee sharp, vivid pictures from a range of sources. The set's FD (flat display) Trinitron WEGA flat-screen technology delivers high image accuracy, wide viewing angles, and corner-to-corner detail with no geometric image distortion. The visually flat FD Trinitron tube minimizes annoying glare from light sources, enhancing contrast. Squares are square, straight lines appear straight, and circles are truly circular. One of the KV-32FS120's coolest features is its 16:9 enhanced mode, which delivers maximum picture quality by concentrating all viewable scan lines within a letterboxed image--wasting none of its horizontal resolution on rendering the black bars that border a widescreen image. Clear Edge VM wideband velocity modulation improves definition at picture edges, creating sharper images by slowing the CRT (cathode-ray tube) beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work--say, when rendering transitions from light to dark parts of an image--and speeding it up when scanning easily rendered sections, like broad dark areas. The set's digital comb filter removes blurred edges between colors and reduces dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt), while magnetic quadra-pole technology reduces "beam spot" distortion and improves corner-to-corner focus and picture sharpness. Program Palette presets offer combinations of picture settings engineered to make the most of specific entertainment types. Settings include vivid, standard, movie, and sports. Channel fix lets you select a specific TV channel (3, for example) for cable box reception. Then you can control a compatible cable box via the TV remote without inadvertently changing the TV from Channel 3. Top-of-the-line component-video inputs (Y/PB/PR) minimize digital and line-scan artifacts from compatible video sources, while standard composite- and S-video inputs accommodate all DVD players. A coaxial RF input accepts a feed from an antenna or an older VCR or cable box. Choose from 2 sets of rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for extra convenience when hooking up a camcorder or gaming console. A rear AV output offers fixed-/variable-level analog audio outputs for hookup with a surround receiver. The set produces stereo audio and BBE sound enhancement with 10 watts per channel through built-in speakers. Other video technologies include auto white balance (which establishes the picture's tint, or hue, by adjusting sensitivity to red, green, and blue light, resulting in truer whites), Dynamic Picture Processor circuitry, tilt correction, Trinitone color temperature control, and vertical aperture compensation (which sharpens picture definition and edge detail on the vertical plane). You can label the set's video inputs and channels for easy selection. What's in the Box TV, RM-Y195 remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Go ahead and move into the new millineum June 3, 2010 Duan Carter (Jackson, MS) I used to work for Best Buy in the Home Theatre department. If there was one thing I hated was to see an old couple (Ages 68 on up) coming my way looking for a TV. I would always try and convince them to take a look at the new flat-panel TV's - but they would always walk toward this dinasour! Don't get me wrong, it has a good picture, decent sound, but there is one but! IT WEIGHS A FREAKIN' TON! OMG, it is so HEAVY!
I Have a 50" Sony XBR LCD and I move that thing with ease by myself. This thing you need a crane!
Hey, if you want big and bulky - be my guest, but break down and spend a little extra and get a flat panel, save your energy for something more constructive.
Great, if you don't end up with blinking lights March 27, 2010 K. M. Strong (Monterey County, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this TV in 2005 or 2006 after our 11 yr old hand-me-down ProScan stopped working one day. This TV had pretty good picture, decent sound, it's frikken huge but it's a 32" CRT so what do you expect. Ever since the first day we brought it home, it would make the loudest **bzzzoowwwn** sound when you turned it on and make all of the lights in the house dim for a sec. Other than that, it was perfect. Until... It started having the 9 blink problem within the past week or so. Periodically, it will just not turn on and the standby light blinks 9 times... and bummer for you, no TV. Now I learn via online searches that I have to replace the G Board for $60 to $100 (and that's if I do it myself) if I want my tv to work again.
For the price I paid for this behemoth that many years ago, I can buy a pretty nice flat screen LCD tv, and hopefully I will not incur the wrath of the blinking lights again.
Sony, the Quality is Gone March 13, 2010 Sony Sucks (OHIO) TV worked great for three years. Now it is dead with blinking red led light. TV repairmen picked it up, all 180 pounds. I will probably give them the set.
lovable tv November 12, 2009 Soumya Ravikrishnan (ca) It is a little older model. Served well for many years. there were a few dead pixels , but you can get the reset code online. we will miss this tv
Only negative point is that it is really really heavy
Great TV - Terrible Company July 27, 2009 YJM (Somewhere In The South) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not even sure why I'm writing this review since I believe the model has been discontinued. Well as per most of my reviews on Amazon, I write them when I'm bored and not doing anything. This one is no different.
I purchased this tv back in 2005 and I believe it was a brand new model at that time. It has worked flawlessly for me in the past four years I've owned it. Turns on every single time, has a great picture, lots of connections in the back, great SRS sound effects, and is very easy to setup with lots of customization. My experience has been good with this tv.
But this will be the last Sony product I ever purchase. I was disgusted with Sony's handling of the whole DRM/Rootkit fiasco back in 2005. They did absolutely nothing about it and did not even admit blame. They are an arrogant company and from my understanding their customer service sucks. I really feel bad for the people who bought this tv only to find it defective shortly after. I do not for a minute doubt their claims of horrible customer service while trying to resolve the issue. Since buying this tv I have not purchased another Sony product and will stick by that promise until the day I die. Sony in their arrogance may not care about a couple of people "defecting" but if enough people stop buying their products I think they'll get the hint.
So in summary, this tv has been dead on reliable but the company who manufactures the tv will never see a dime of my money again.
