It offers stereo speakers, front audio/video inputs for your camcorder or game console, and a rear-panel S-video connection for your DVD player or DVR. The pure flat screen design looks great and reduces undesirable reflections and distortions common to traditional curved glass. A convenient front-panel menu button simplifies setup even if you misplace the remote control, and the unit's 181-channel PLL tuner offers automatic channel setup.Other features include auto shutoff, game mode, V-Chip parental controls, SAP (Secondary Audio Program for bilingual viewing), resume function, and a trilingual onscreen display (OSD) in English, Spanish, or French. The set is also Energy Star-compliant for cost savings and power conservation.

No problems with mine November 30, 2008 D. Anderson (Cheney, WA USA) I bought this set at Fred Meyer's about 4 years ago. The picture still looks great. It has always worked perfectly. Unlike one of the other reviewers, mine has no noises at all, just the proper sounds from the speakers. I guess some people have gotten defective units. One person said that there are no picture adjustments, but this is not true. The menu has all the usual adjustments: color, contrast, sharpness, brightness, and tint, plus game mode. You just go to "picture" in the menu and scroll through the options with the up and down buttons. The only complaints I have with it are that it doesn't have speaker output jacks and it isn't digital ready, though I use cable anyway.
Not for the long run... May 13, 2008 elchamber (Chino Hills) You get what how much you paid for I guess. I only paid 100 bucks, but still... I bought this TV set 2 years ago and now it just won't work. Its not damaged, it didn't fall on anything. I didn't spill any liquids on it. I tried to keep dust off. But for some reason it won't turn on.
Plus, the tv set is really a basic one with no real controls over the contrast, brightness, etc. It has it's own idea of what you'll like and if it's not giving the option, than forget about it.
What really makes me angry is that I have one tv set that I had for over 6 years and it still works fine.
Before you think of buy this product, ask yourself. Am I planning to buy another TV set in 1 to 2 years, because your going to.
Great value March 6, 2005 jhill (Kansas City, MO USA) I got this TV for $120 at a discount retailer. This product is commonly on sale at traditional retailers and are usually a little cheaper than Amazon.
It is a good TV for a bedroom - the flat screen makes the picture look clear and reduces glare. The two inputs are great; the past two TVs I had in my bedroom only had coaxial inputs. Both front and back have Left-Right audio, but the front has a composite video RCA input, while the back has S-Video input. This is good, but would be somewhat inconvenient and unsightly if you needed to plug something in permanently using composite video (Yellow RCA plug).
Unfortunately, this is another device that is somewhat dependent on the remote; however, it's not nearly as bad as some things. You must have the remote to switch to and from the input channels. If you're on an input channel, you can't press channel up/down to get to regular TV; you have to use the input select button on the remote. If you lose the remote, you can't switch to the input channels.
This point was alluded to before, but it is true: the V-Chip on this TV does not have a passcode. I don't need to use the V-Chip, but it is completely useless if it doesn't have a passcode.
If you are interested in an inexpensive flat-screen CRT for a bedroom or other location where size doesn't matter, this TV is perfect for the price. I would shop for the best price before buying.
Great Picture, but annoying noise February 18, 2005 Kris Schuster 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This TV I bought at bestbuy for 140 (now I can see that was too much!) Anyway, I stood there for about a half hour comparing it to the other 20 inches, and although the body of the TV did not have the sleek style of the Phillips, Sony, or RCA, It's picture was better than all the 20's. The only exception was that the Phillips was superior when it came to text.
My only major beef is that the TV makes an annoying loud humm that I've never heard from a TV, this is no the characteristic high-pitched whine tv's make. It's kinda distracting and I hope it doesn't mean the TV is going to break.
Aside of that, great TV at a good price.
Great picture/price quality February 17, 2005 BleenGrue (The Garden, Athens) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've owned this TV for over a year--I initially bought it because my in-store comparison of picture qualities couldn't justify me paying more for another set. The picture quality was better compared to the rest of the 20 inch TVs at the store and it was the cheapest. I have had absolutely no problems, and the picture quality hasn't deteriorated over the past year. I highly recommend it.
