Product Description
The Bose® CineMate II speaker system provides high-quality home theater sound to get more from your HDTV experience. Just two compact speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass® module deliver sweeping cinematic sound that puts you in the middle of your movies, games and sports. Proprietary TrueSpace® technology enables this immersive performance--without immersing you in equipment. There are no rear or center speakers, eliminating much of the wiring of traditional 5-speaker systems. Just connect the system right to your TV and control basic functions with a simple four-button remote.
Improved acoustics. Exceptional value.
The CineMate II system is an ideal choice for your first home theater speakers or a Bose surround experience in smaller rooms. The simplified, two-speaker setup offers a hassle-free addition to your HDTV. And the improved acoustics provide exceptional value for home theater performance.
Newly redesigned Articulated Array speakers--now with a striking, pure black finish--aesthetically match today's flat-panel TVs. The hideaway Acoustimass module reproduces resonant low notes that add drama to movies and games. And it now includes a dedicated bass control for your listening preferences. Place the module in a corner or out of view--all the sound seems to come from the compact speakers.
Easy to set up. Easy to use.
The CineMate II speaker system only requires a few connections. It hooks up directly to your TV with minimal--if any--disruption to existing component connections. A small interface module houses your audio input from the TV and displays on/off status for your system. And a sleek, four-button remote handles basic system functions.

Amazon's product review is for GS II no II July 30, 2010 Directionless The "GS" II model is not the same as the II and the GS is more expensive.
Great For Us July 30, 2010 David R (Grand Rapids, MI USA) We have a very irregular-shaped room with a big open floor plan, so we knew we could never get the "cinematic" experience. This provides a great and easy setup experience... basically, we plugged the speakers in, stashed the "AcoustiMass" behind our entertainment center, and now everything sounds about as good as we could expect. For people who aren't super-sensitive about getting the "perfect" experience, this is really fantastic. Loud, deep basses that even fool the dog into barking at them, which is awesomely amusing. Loving it ever since I set it up after hooking it up. Bought it from Best Buy since the price was the same as Amazon, and could get it immediately, but I VERY HIGHLY recommend this product for those of us who are realists about expectations and just want to really enjoy sound beyond the small built-in TV speakers. Again, if you want a good system at a great price, in my opinion this is amazing value.
Awesome Sound Quality - A Must Buy! July 26, 2010 Ronnie Saini (Boston, USA) I purchased this Speaker System as I'm a die hard fan of Bose so that was a one good reason to start with, I'll be very explicit with my review and list down bullet points - FYI I bought Wall Brackets SB20 (Black) to install it - fits perfectly
Pros:
1. Awesome Sound Quality (as we always expect from Bose)
2. Installation Guide was very helpful
3. Super Easy to Install
4. Optical and RCA Cables included in the box
5. All required screws come along with the package
Cons:
1. Interface Module does NOT give the number for Volume - you just have to judge and increase/decrease it
2. Interface Modules has only 2 types of Output (a) RCA Audio Out & (b) Optical Out - Be Aware that if you connect your Blue Ray Player/DVR/DVD Player through Optical Cable then even if your device is switched off, anything connected with an RCA Audio Cable will not give any Sound until you take the Optical Cable out from the Interface Module (very very annoying part of the whole thing) because Optical Out always gets the Priority even though the device connected to it is switched off - NOT VALID ANYMORE (Please Connect Your HDTV via Optical Cable as the man said and you are good to go)
3. There is NO UNIVERSAL REMOTE IN THE BOX - Amazon Still mentions that it comes in the Box (totally misleading)
Summary:
It is a wonderful speaker system and sound quality of Bose is unmatched, if you connect your HDTV via Optical Cable(comes in the package) then you are all set to hear the sound of any device connected to the TV, now my movies sound better - superb!!!
Better then LED TV Speakers July 8, 2010 Marlon I have a Samsung 8000 series LED TV, the picture of the TV is perfect, but the sound quality is very poor.
My first choice was to get a nice 5.1 surround sound system, but a decent one would cost me around $1,500, which was over the budget. The next choice was to get a sound bar, and that's the time when the salesperson suggested I take a look at Bose Cinemate Series II, it was a little pricier, but the sound quality was alot better as well.
Setup was very easy, previous reviews were helpful, so push the optical cable a little harder till you hear the click, and don't forget to remove the tip.
Sound quality is good as well, you can use it at all levels, and you'll get the best of it when watching Blu Ray movies, however you do for some reason always expect to hear something from behind, and you never do.
Again, this is nowhere near the full surround sound system, just a decent pair of speakers that are better then most TV speakers, especially LED TV.
More impressive in the store June 18, 2010 A. D. Morris 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
So, I was in the store one evening to buy a printer cartridge when I came across this Bose equipment. The display was set-up with three Bose units (V20, Cinemate II, and the 3, 2, 1 series). After listening to the V20 and 3, 2, 1 I found the Cinemate more than attractive...on the display. To be quite honest I was simply amazed at it's sound quality. Man, I should have known better. Once I got it home I was terribly dissatisfied. It was a lot like seeing a movie that didn't hold up to expectations. I currently have a Sony receiver, Blu-ray player and Apple Tv connected to a Panasonic plasma tv. The sound on my current system is great but I figured I would give the Bose a try. Within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box and connecting it...it was back in the box. During the installation, which was extremely easy and quick, I was listening to internet radio via the AppleTv and when I switch the optical cable from my Sony to the Bose and the volume, sound quality and the listening experience decreased noticeably. I thought it may have been due to the volume difference but even after turning the Bose system way up the enjoyment was still not there.
My disappointment came in that I was expecting to replace my current set-up with this new high speed-low drag sound equipment that was supposed to give me the home theatre experience with just two speakers and a sub. After all, that's how it's advertised, right? How nieve was I? It may be a good system if you're in a small room or if it's connected to your computer. But for a decent sized living room; stick to a full surround sound set-up.
