3 out of 5 stars Good for Interior designers, Custom Builders, Realtors, etc.   March 15, 2008
Wildman Keith
High tech gadgets are shown and discussed along with their performance specifics.
This magazine is the type that can give potential customers some ideas on what they might want in their new house or newly remodeled home.
If you run one of the businesses that deals with installing things such as home theater systems I would think this magazine would almost be mandatory to stay current on what was available or soon to be on the market.
It also makes a good magazine to have in your lobby or waiting room if you are a realtor or custom builder. Keeping your clients occupied with something they might not have seen before, they might actually enjoy their wait reading about gadgets that interest them instead of some old, dull boring magazine such as Time.
I think another magazine that goes well with this one is Metropolitan Home.
Metropolitan Home deals more with the interior design rather than the electronic stuff that Electronic House does. But since they both deal with upper level living situations you really do need a good total package. Interior design is just as importatant as electronic gadgets to keep your clientele happy.

3 out of 5 stars Gadgets For Your Home   April 8, 2007

Electronic House is a magazine devoted to electronic lovers who cannot seem to have enough cords and batteries, twinkling lights, LCD displays, and other electrical indicators around them at all times. This publication covers a wide array of electronic topics and issues, but it seems to be primarily concerned with new products.

The items covered in Electronic House range from the common to the unusual and sometimes very expensive. I am often amazed at some of the things I read about in this magazine and the prices that people are willing to pay to own the perfect piece of electronic merchandise. It is common to see $10,000 audio components, $5,000 projectors, $4,000 speakers, and other outrageously priced luxury items in the pages of Electronic House. Often, these expensive items are reviewed and analyzed, with the author of the review attempting to explain why they cost so much and why they are worth paying such a high price to own.

But all is not made exclusively for the rich and famous in this magazine. There are plenty of normal- priced goods in Electronic House, and the writing and commentary on these items is often very good. Besides the general advice on what to look for, how to find what you need, how to utilize the various features, and how to distinguish the good from the bad, Electronic House also has reviews of specific products, with ratings breakdowns, pros and cons, and the facts you need to make a purchase.

Most of the time, Electronic House deals with the cold, hard truth in its numerous articles. This means that you won't find very many stories of a personal nature in this magazine. Instead, Electronic House sticks with the facts. It lets you know things like the amps of a set of speakers, the wattage capabilities of an audio device, the number of CD's that a changer can hold, etc. It doesn't waste much time walking you through, say, a specific family's home and letting you read along as mom, dad, and the kids enjoy their new electronics. This magazine is more of a buyers guide, advising readers on what they need to know to make the best buying decision.

Overall, Electronic House is a good magazine and it makes a good choice of reading material for those who love the keep up with the latest in electronic technology. It's a trendy publication that includes some very interesting columns on brand new devices and some informative previews on the future of the electronics business and what new products are in the making. It's a little bit shorter than other publications and the cover price is high. But subscriptions carry a moderate price tag, making Electronic House a worthwhile magazine to read for those who like to keep up with the latest electronics trends.

4 out of 5 stars High end drool catcher   December 7, 2005

This is not a magazine for someone looking to spend $1500 on a home theatre setup. But it *will* introduce you to a whole new world of high end home automation and audio/visual products. While I'm not planning on spending $85k on my next entertainment center renovation, there *are* elements of these systems that fall within my price range, and the breadth of products reviewed helps me to understand where the pieces I choose fall into the overall pecking order.

The homes detailed in the magazine are typically elegant and well-designed. (That's why my wife likes the magazine.) They also demonstrate ways to integrate electronics into your living space without having them take over. (That's why I like the magazine.) The reviews are from a user perspective, and focus on usability over technical superiority. Considering the intended audience, that's as it should be.

Think of this magazine as the Car and Driver or Motor Trend for home electronics. It tells you enough to know if you want to test drive a car. It doesn't give you a detailed description of how the ECU regulates the timing based on ambient air pressure. And even though you picked up the magazine to decide whether you'd rather have the KIA or the Hyundai, you couldn't help but keep reading the next review, about the Ferrari.

This magazine emphasizes articles on really expensive professional home theater installations with lots of emphasis on photos and much less on technical details. Product reviews are shallow (Why you need this: It's way cool!). After a few issues you get tired of nothing new, especially if you're on a budget or a DIYer.

5 out of 5 stars Electronic House Mag.   October 7, 2002
I AM IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING A NEW PLACE. I HAVE BOUGHT MANY MAGAZINES, TO TRY AND MAKE MY PLACE AS MODERN AS POSSIBLE. I FOUND THAT ELECTRONIC HOUSE MAGAZINE HAS EXCELLENT ARTICLES IN IT, WITH THE LATEST PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET, THAT WILL HELP ME BUILD A MORE PRACTICAL LIVING PLACE. THIS MAGAZINE ALSO FEATURES SOME GREAT ADVICES ON INSTALLATION OF PRODUCTS. IT IS NOT THE MAGAZINE YOU WANT IF YOU ARE PLANING ON BUYING A HOME THEATER, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY A MAGAZINE THAT YOU WANT TO BE SUBSCRIBE TO, IF YOU ARE PLANING ON INSTALLING OR HAVE SOMEONE INSTALL A HOME THEATER FOR YOU, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE BEST AREA IS, HOW LARGE THE ROOM SHOULD BE OR WHAT THE CONTROLS IN TERMS OF LIGHTS AND SPECIAL EFFECTS AND SO ON SHOULD BE FOR YOUR HOME THEATER. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, SO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MAGAZINE WILL HELP YOU WITH. A GREAT MAGAZINE TO DO SOME HOME IMPROVEMENTS!!!
