Excellent moldmaking book March 11, 2010 Jason L. Williams (New England) Well written and easy to understand. Good information that carries over well into trades and crafts well beyond the scope of prop making.
Great book that illustrates multiple material and craft techniques. November 25, 2009 E. Lewis (NASHVILLE, TN United States) I bought my copy back in the early 1990s fairly soon after it was first published. This was the best book ever for the techniques and illustrations in those pre-Internet days. This book is also applicable to plastic scale model building and casting as most scale model books of the time glossed over casting. This book's photographs were also better than some poorly illustrated books on how to cast rubber parts that existed at the time. I have used techniques learned from this book to cast and build different items over the years such as recasting a plastic decoration from vintage furniture, making custom motorcycle tank emblems, making custom bumpers for a vehicle hood wind deflector, and more.
Any critic of the materials listing should know that the techniques are still valid even with newer materials. Even 20 years on this book should be considered a must have reference for designers, model builders, craft makers, prop makers, and anyone with a need to create home based products.
One of the best of its Kind July 4, 2009 Brian Cheverie (Buffalo NY) One of the most complete and thorough books on any subject. This book covers all aspects of theatrical mold and cast making. It is a must have reference for anyone interested in this subject. It is fully illustrated with B/W photos. Covers myriad media giving full tutorials on each. I got a copy from my local library and after reading it decided I had to have my own copy.

Best Prop Mold Making Book! October 2, 2008 CFH (Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"The Prop Builders Molding & Casting Handbook" is by the far the best book on mold making and casting I have found (and I have quite a few :)
Not just for prop builders, this well laid out work covers many different types of mold making materials, uses, benefits, and TONS of tips. The casting and finishing sections are also very strong, providing great advice for reproducing realistic looking props.
HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
