Amazon.com Product Description Sylvania's 19-inch color TV/VCR/DVD combination gives you everything you need to enjoy DVD and VHS movies and record TV programming in one package controlled by a single remote control. Its built-in DVD player plays a variety of media: prerecorded DVD-Video movies, DVD-recordable and DVD-rewriteable discs (both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW), audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs, and MP3 audio discs. The VCR features automatic head cleaning, one-touch recording, and a 1-year, 8-event recording timer. The DVD player gives you lots of control--you can freeze frame, advance frame by frame, or view in slow motion or fast-forward/reverse. For convenience, you can also stop playing a DVD and then pick up right where you left off (resume play), or add markers so that you can return directly to key points on your favorite discs. You can also set a disc or part of a disc to repeat over and over again, a useful feature for demonstrations or tradeshows. Other key features include a screensaver to protect the TV, parental lock, and the ability to choose from among multiple camera angles and multilingual subtitles (when available). The 4-head VCR's HiFi stereo recording system offers excellent sound quality, with a dynamic range of 80 decibels, frequency response from 20 Hertz to 20 kilohertz and only 0.005 percent wow and flutter. The VCR's clock time conveniently sets itself when the unit is used within range of a PBS broadcast station. It automatically rewinds a tape when it reaches the end, and includes sleep and wake-up timers, as well as automatic repeat play, a useful feature for demonstrations or tradeshows. In addition to programmable timer recording and daily and weekly timed recording, it also gives you instant, one-touch, timed recording of anywhere from 30 to 480 minutes. The VCR records at two speeds, SP (standard play) and SLP (super long play). In SLP mode, you can search forward or backward through your recordings at either high or super-high speeds. In SP mode, you can search at high speed. Automatic power on/off saves time, turning the TV/VCR on automatically whenever you insert a tape, and turning it off and ejecting a tape after automatically rewinding it. The TV's 181-channel cable-ready tuner can program channels automatically, a real timesaving feature (a separate cable converter may be required to display scrambled channels). The TV's onscreen menus can be displayed in English, Spanish, or French, it's capable of displaying Closed Captioning, and it offers V-Chip parental control. The sound system includes two stereo, 1-watt, front-firing speakers with virtual surround sound and a headphone jack for private listening. Dynamic range control allows you to control the range of the sound volume, and Dolby Digital sound output (via an RCA jack) lets you send digital, multichannel sound signals from compatible DVDs to any audio/video receiver with a compatible input. The TV also includes video and stereo audio inputs in the front of the set. What's in the Box TV/DVD combo, remote control, batteries, rod antenna, operating instructions.

The product itself is totally fine, it is just the stupidity of the way the so called instruction book is written that is most irritating and unnecesary.
Remote Sucks April 24, 2005 D. Gourdine 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this television and had it delivered 11 March from that date I have not been able to program the set. I have had the Finai company sent me three remotes all do not work. I was advised to take the television to an authorized shop not in my area.
Manual use for some things do work great. However the purpose was to avoid constant changing and getting up and down. I have ordered a universal remote and hope that works with this set
hope, hope. Amazon services was fine but Sylvania thats a joke.
Do Not Buy Sylvania !!! April 12, 2005 Doresa Cheeley 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Sylvania does not warranty their TVs. When you go to register you will be sent to the "Funai Corp" site. This set broke down before it was a year old .I took it to the shop last week. The repairman says all there is, is a fax number through which to buy parts. HE HAS YET TO GET A RESPONSE!!! If you're going to buy Sylvania because of the price, make sure you buy it from someone that offers an extended warranty. (Amazon did not have this when I bought mine.)
This was such a good deal and Sylvania is an old name in the business, so I gave it no second thought. I bought another set for my husband without hesitation. Then the first one broke. Now I'm hoping the second holds up.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Amazon. I've made several purchases from them. This is the first time I had a negative experience
6 months - no problems at all April 9, 2005 SenseiC (VA USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
We bought this for our daughter. It has functioned flawlessly. She records with the VCR on a regular basis and frequently watches DVDs and has no complaints.

I sent my 18 year old son this tv and he has had it for a few weeks with no problems with the vcr or dvd, good picture, good remote and he is very satisfied. He just wants a back button on the control but I think he will survive
