This is a great little set with good picture and decent sound quality. The VCR/DVD components have worked flawlessly the few times we used them. We used it very seldom in the past year, deciding after it was purchased and used that it was a tad too small for clear viewing for us, from the distance it was intended for use. It was never hooked up to cable or an antenna, and we only watched a few DVDs and VCRs on it after purchasing it, and so it was never originally programmed as most TVs would be for viewing of cable or satellite stations.
During the past year somehow the remote became lost. I passed this TV on to another individual, and though the VCR and DVD components continue to work fine using the buttons on the TV set body, this set seems unable to be programmed now, even with a brand new universal remote-control device. We have had the cable company out to this individual's house twice now, both times the tech leaves in frustration, telling us the set is unable to be programmed without the original remote-controller. Now we are searching online for somewhere that sells the original Sylvania remote-control for this particular set, having entered tons of codes through both the store-bought universal controller, as well as the new hi-tech remote-control provided by the cable company. Searching modes for both the universal control and the cable control have failed to produce a code that operates this set. I have never encountered a problem like this before. Just letting folks know about this so you will hang on to your original control device!!!!!
I love it! February 22, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My sister got hers last week and when we set it up I couldn't believe how easy it was. Mine came today and it's set to go! Couldn't be better.

Great picture all functions. Did have problem with VCR when first used (Ate tape). Could have been due to excessive moisture. OK after one day idle. Biggest problem is practically illegable print identifying control buttons on remote. In most cases have to turn lite on to read functions due to poor contrast between case color & print.
You'll make up for the low price in ruined videos . . . December 29, 2003 Heather A. Karalfa (College Park, MD United States) 17 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bought this same exact T.V. from a reputable retailer under the name Superscan, which is a sister company of Sylvania. Originally, I thought that it was a great bargain, as most similar T.V./VCR/DVD combos sell for nearly twice as much. But, after having three of my treasured, out of print collector videos torn to shreds while playing them on this model within only the first few weeks of owning it, I wouldn't reccommend it to my worst enemey. Apparently, there is some sort of a speed malfuntion inside of the T.V. that causes the tape inside of a VHS video to be slowly torn out and tangled on the turning hinges due to the fact that they spin faster than the video is able to play. This happens without warning since the video continues until the T.V. shuts itself off because of the excessive amount of damage that it has created, at which time one is forced to manually extract whatever remains of the tape from inside the VCR via hand and/or other means. The upside of this unit is that, thus far, the DVD player appears to work fine, and the T.V. picture quality is acceptable. However, after my poor experiences with the part of the combo that I had planned on using most often -- the VCR -- I would suggest that those considering this product just fork over the extra hundred or so for something of higher quality. I wish that I had; I could have saved myself a bundle in the long run.
plugin, turn on and watch December 12, 2003 geelow 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I purchase this item for my daughter for christmas. For the price I was hoping that It would not be a waste of money. Not only was it a great price, but the picture quality of the tv/dvd/vcr is very good. The first day when I plugged the tv in I felt the picture quality of the tv was not that sharp and clear, but the dvd and vcr was perfect, two days later the tv picture was sharp and crystal clear. The setup of the tv/vcr/dvd was effortless all I did was plug-in the tv. No need to figure out how to connect the dvd and vcr to the tv so everything would work right, you just plug-in turn on and watch, using the 1 remote that controls everything. Also in the front of the tv there are connections for video equipment e.g. playstation etc. This is an awesome deal and a very good product for anyone wondering if they should buy this item.
