Product Description Is your flat-panel TV lonely? The HD Theater 500 is the perfect match for any video screen. It'll make you fall in love with your favorite music and movies all over again, filling every performance with passion and intrigue.
The Klipsch HD Theater 500 is a compact, high-definition 5.1 home theater system that's simple to set up and use. It consists of five speakers-left, center and right front channels with two rear surrounds-and one powered subwoofer. Please note this system does not include an A/V receiver, speaker wire or a subwoofer cable.
Each main and surround speaker is a sealed enclosure finished in high-gloss piano black with a 2.5-inch IMG woofer and a MicroTractrix Horn-loaded 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter inside. The magnetically shielded center channel-so it won't interfere with your TV picture-shares the same durable, high-quality attributes, except it employs dual woofers.
But what makes these speakers and center channel truly unique is their horn-loaded technology, an exclusive design that has made Klipsch an industry leader for over 60 years. It allows the HD Theater 500 to deliver genuine lifelike sound and produce more output, using less energy. In other words, it doesn't require a lot of amplifier power to drive it. Over half of all new theaters in North America and several other countries choose Klipsch professional products because of the amazing benefits of horn technology.

Solid sound system for medium sized rooms July 31, 2010 Bill Klipsch put together a really crisp system. The sound is excellent and the speakers are a good size for medium sized rooms. The sub has good bass. My only critique is that at high volume the sub is slightly undersized and can be overpowered by the other speakers. Highly recommend this system.
Excellent Compact Speaker System July 10, 2010 M. Matthews 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent set of speakers. I previously had a mix of Bose and Polk speakers. I have a medium sized living room and these perfectly matched Klipsch speakers just simply sound a whole lot better. The crispness of the speakers bring out detail I had never heard before. The speakers are small and blend in well with my entertainment center. I would definitely buy these speakers again.
Very good speaker package! February 24, 2010 Dean Fife (Omaha, Nebraska United States) Pros: Good looking, great sounding, good for both movies and music, good value, overall solid construction.
Cons: Great sound at normal listening levels but may not be enough sound for large environments, speaker terminals do not securely lock speaker wire
Other Thoughts: I have this pared with a SONY STR-DH700 AV receiver and I compare this favorably with my 4 year old VERY expensive Bose surround sound system at normal listening levels. You may need to step-up to the larger Klipsch system if you have a large area, mostly due to the 100 watt subwoofer limitation. But for most people at regular listening levels with mid-sized rooms, this will do just fine.
Good Sound, compact, quite loud for the size, awesome subwoofer February 21, 2010 H. Mamoola (Memphis, TN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Pros - Bought these speakers from TigerDirect in Jan 2010 bundled with Onkyo TX-SR507 7.2 Channel surround. I was initially disappointed looking at the size of the 4 speakers, but when I tuned the reciever and increased base loudness, it was awesome. These speakers give out quite a clear definition for their size. The center speaker is extremely crisp and clear. The Onkyo works well with it....I can hear across frequencies and all musical instruments pop out real clear (Using the Plz Logix II on the Onkyo). Movies are just awesome and my PS3 games sound just amazing!! I believe that it is a good system for a medium sized room (Mine is about 20 X 20). I am not an audiophile, but I think that I can compare the setup to a decent BOSE system. The sub is just awesome. I had accidently put it too loud the first day, and a ceiling lamp from the kitchen crashed to the floor (I am sure that the glass fixture was on the edge, but it hadnt moved for 2 years!) I have hardwood floors, so the subwoofer effect is even better than on carpet.
Cons - The speaker fixtures were cheap and would not allow the speakers to turn beyond a specific angle. I had to angle the speakers for the setup in my room, but the base allows only about 45 degrees swivel. The plastic connectors at the back are cheap looking and dont fit 12 gage wires too well.
Overall - Great speakers for a good mid-budget HT system. Its essential to pair them up to a good reciever and use good gage wires for the best performance.

I bought the Yamaha RXV465BL Receiver bundle with Klipsch HD500 and the entire system sounds terrible. I am disappointed in all audible shape and form. I don't know if the receiver makes the speakers or the speakers makes the receiver but neither seems to do the job. I am not awed or impressed.
For the first few days, I was excited because its a new system but simultaneously mind-boggled that it doesnt sound all that great. So I been trying to find the right setting in terms of the 17 Cinema DSP on the receiver. I have come to the conclusion that this system will never sound great. The heart thumping base is not complimentary like Bose speakers but rather it detracts and is noise thumping annoyance!
Its sad when I have older cheaper systems in the house that sounds way better.
